Metabolic Health Clinic

A new way to treat certain health problems

Metabolic health refers to the overall state of health of various metabolic processes in the human body. These processes include how the body uses and stores nutrients from food to produce energy, regulate blood sugar (blood sugar), metabolize fats, proteins and carbohydrates (carbohydrates), as well as other functions related to metabolism.

What is metabolic medicine?

In metabolic medicine clinic, as in obesity medicine clinic, we aim to improve and optimize markers of metabolic health as well as pillars of overall health. We track several blood markers that may show signs of dysfunction years before lifestyle-related chronic diseases become established, such as prediabetes, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver (liver disease), high blood pressure, chronic inflammation, early cognitive impairment, etc.

Ideally, we optimize prevention and implement strategies to invest now in your health and your “health RRSP” to optimize longevity and vitality. Realistically, most patients who consult already have one or more lifestyle-related chronic diseases and wish to try a less pharmacology-centric approach, by tackling the roots of the problems.

The metabolic health approach is based on lifestyle habits first and foremost, especially diet and non-food (fasting), but also sleep, stress management, movement, microbiota, breathing and social networking.

Thus, special attention will be paid to blood sugar levels, enzymes at the time, cholesterol balance, inflammation proteins, insulinemia, liver (ultrasound if necessary), body composition (proportions or percentages of fat, bone, muscle, water and lean mass in the body), etc.
