Lifestyle Medicine Clinic

Lifestyle Medicine is a medical approach based on the prevention, treatment and reversal of chronic diseases through the sustainable modification of life habits at therapeutic levels. It is based on scientifically sound and validated data and considers that many modern health problems – such as type 2 diabetes, obesity and overweight, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, dementias, dyslipidaemia (cholesterol) or certain cancers – are largely linked to our current lifestyle habits.

A person-centered approach

Lifestyle medicine seeks to identify the root causes of health problems and proposes sustainable solutions, in collaboration with the patient, to restore balance. It is a person-centered approach, which encourages autonomy and accountability.

It is the largest medical specialty in expansion around the world and more and more health professionals are trained there and integrate it into their practice. By integrating lifestyle medicine with more conventional medicine, we can observe lasting results: reduction or cessation of certain medications, improvement in quality of life and longevity and, in some cases, remission of several chronic diseases. In addition, it helps to reduce stress, improve sleep, improve weight management, increase energy levels and concentration by taking control of our health.

The Six Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine

At the heart of this specialization are the six fundamental pillars of lifestyle medicine that act synergistically to improve your overall health:

  • Regular physical activity, adapted to everyone’s capabilities.
  • A restful sleep, both in quality and duration.
  • Stress management, thanks to tools such as mindfulness meditation, breathing and relaxation techniques.
  • The control of risk substances such as tobacco, alcohol and drugs.

In summary, lifestyle medicine represents a return to the basics of human health based on solid scientific foundations, giving back to the patient an active role in their healing and overall well-being.
